Description
A fine textured evergreen conifer with gracefully arching branches covered in soft and feathery silvery grayish-blue foliage, ‘Grey Owl’ is a fast growing Juniper excellent for mass plantings on embankments, hillsides and slopes or as a natural low hedge. Especially nice as a specimen in rock gardens around large boulders, near red-leaved Japanese maples and other plants and trees with dark colored foliage.
Landscape & Garden Uses
If you’re looking to create a natural low hedge or need a plant to quickly cover an ugly slope that’s washing away, Grey Owl Juniper is a great choice. Growing 8 to 10 feet wide and maybe 3 feet tall, it also works well as a specimen in landscape borders or an accent where there is room in home foundation plantings. It can also be trained into a pom pom topiary form. A fine addition to conifer gardens and rock and Xeriscape gardens (low water needs). Â
Suggested Spacing:Â 6 to 8 feet for mass plantings;Â 16 feet or more for space between plants

Growing Preferences
Grey Owl Juniper is exceptionally easy to grow in most any average, well-drained soil and full sun, however will tolerate some light shade. Plants are exceptionally drought tolerant when established. As with so many other ornamental plants, constantly soggy or wet soil can cause root rot or other harmful plant diseases. Very low-maintenance and requires no pruning when provided ample room to grow. Keep in mind this juniper can grow to 10 feet wide over time.

I picked up two of these at a local nursery last fall and wanted two more to fill out a bed. I had not been able to source them until I checked Wilson Brothers. I wanted this particular juniper for its unique shape and low growth. As the description says they do compliment a Japanese Maple well.
The plants shipped quickly, were well packed, and in great shape. The 3 Gallon container was full with root system. I’ve had them in the ground for about 2 weeks now and they are doing great. They get at least 8 hours of Charleston sun. The bed is mostly sandy, compact soil. I did amend when planting with some mushroom compost and potting soli.
This is my second time ordering from Wilson Brothers. I’ve been very pleased with all 9 foundational shrubs I’ve purchased.—————————————Thanks for the photo! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
