Description
The Pinky Promise Snowberry is a North American native deciduous flowering shrub anyone in USDA Zones 3 to 7 can easily grow and enjoy. In late spring to early summer it features a profusion of bell-shaped soft-pink flowers the butterflies, hummingbirds and beneficial pollinators will thank you for. Following the flowers is an equal and amazing profusion of bubblegum-pink colored blueberry-like berries that many bird species will feast on through fall and winter. Attractive mint-green eucalyptus-like foliage on arching branches is a nice backdrop for the berries, giving the plant an overall beautiful appearance in the landscape. Amazingly adaptable and easy to grow, Pinky Promise is a cheery accent in small garden spaces or containers or in groupings or as a low hedge where space allows.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing in a rounded mound 2-3 feet tall and equally as wide, the Pinky Promise Snowberry is ideal for use as an accent in small garden spaces and container or in mixed shrub borders and sunny woodland borders. It can also be useful as a low hedge or in mass on slopes for erosion control. A fine addition to butterfly and hummingbird gardens, pink theme gardens, wildlife gardens, native plant gardens and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing:Â Â 2 to 2.5 feet for solid hedges or groupings;Â 5 feet or more for space between plantsÂ
Growing Preferences
Pinky Promise Snowberry is very easy to grow in a wide range of soils preferring a moist but well-drained soil of average to even low fertility and full sun to part shade. For the best flower and berry production we suggest 5 hours or more of direct sunlight per day. Drought tolerant when established. No pruning necessary however responds well to it for size control or shaping purposes.
